Collecting and paying out in Vietnam

Vietnam runs on bank transfers, QR codes and e-wallets rather than cards. This page explains the local rails and what you can use through CVPay to collect VND, pay out to Vietnamese bank accounts and move value in USDT.

How money moves in Vietnam

VietQR

The national QR standard operated by NAPAS. Customers scan with the app of any participating bank, and the payment moves as an interbank transfer. Dynamic codes carry the amount and an order reference.

Bank transfer

Interbank transfers over the national switch are the default way Vietnamese customers pay online and the way businesses pay out.

E-wallets

Consumer wallets are widely used at checkout, especially on mobile. They sit alongside, not instead of, bank transfers and QR.

USDT

Many cross-border businesses fund and repatriate Vietnamese flows through USDT. Network choice matters: send on the wrong chain and funds can be lost.

CVPay facts for Vietnam

  • Pay-in methods include VietQR, MoMo, ZaloPay and Viettel Money in Vietnam, and GCash, Maya, GrabPay and QR Ph in the Philippines.
  • Pay-outs can be sent to local bank accounts in Vietnam and the Philippines, or as USDT to a wallet.
  • CVPay supports three currencies, VND, PHP and USDT, in both directions: collecting and paying out.
  • USDT is supported on three networks: TRC20, BEP20 and Solana.
  • One merchant account and one API cover all three currencies.
  • Payment status changes are sent as webhook callbacks, and every callback is signed.
  • Merchants are onboarded after a KYB review. A sandbox environment is opened first, and the sandbox is isolated from production.

Before you integrate in Vietnam

  • Use dynamic, order-bound QR so incoming transfers reconcile automatically.
  • Treat only a signed webhook or a status query as proof of payment, never the redirect back from the payment page.
  • Handle underpayment, overpayment and expired orders explicitly.
  • Collect the bank, account number and registered name before sending a payout.
  • Decide which USDT networks you accept and show the network clearly at checkout.
